Listing more than 600 citations ranging from insider memoirs to the accounts of former government officials, after 4 years of research, I squeezed in 323 pages the entire story behind the Iraq War, including Saddam's association with CIA, Iraq-Iran War, weapons sold to Iraq, the inspectors' findings, the warnings before 9/11, the intent of the “Project of New American Century”, the socialistic background of the neo-cons dominating the Bush Administration... I tried to blend all these facts in an engaging way. You will be surprised as much as I did...

“This book is a fascinating read. It is amazing how much material has been squeezed into 323 pages, while continuing to tell a captivating story. Every university should have it in their library for discussion and further enlightenment.” ~Katie Thompson; author and teacher.

“In a precise and thought provoking review, Charles Edmund Coyote answers several critical questions such as: What really were Bush's motives for the Iraq war? How did Bin Laden evade US capture despite superior intelligence on his location? Did the enormous cost of the war justify the objectives obtained?” ~Julian Sanchez

“…Over the years since 9/11, I've read several books and articles on the war and the administration responsible and none of them captured my attention so fully.” ~Barbara Gilbert

“…It's hard to believe so much information can be told in a few pages in an interesting and engaging way. From the feeling of common purpose that united the American people immediately following 9/11 to the blundering years and hundreds of billions wasted in Iraq, all this and more can be found in this book.” ~Peggy Maxwell

“…Charles Edmund Coyote has been brilliant at gathering information, interpreting it, putting it in context, and giving the reader an understanding of the bigger picture. It was hard to put the book down…” ~Ariel Sanders (Amazon.co.uk)

I am an author, educated in anthropology and interested in such topics as human potential/spirituality, life extension, and the dynamics of culture. I became concerned, during the Bush/Obama years, with where this country was being taken by its leaders – with their Middle Eastern misadventures, disregard of the constitution, and conflation of government and Wall Street.

I love this country, our constitution, and the rule of law under which we were founded. But I understand that no nation can remain great without a great middle class and I fear these things are being rapidly eroded away with good jobs being sent overseas, misguided militarism, and a governing class more focused on self-advancement than their responsibilities to the citizens. That we can be a great and good people was demonstrated by our response as a nation in the first days and months following September 11, but we are allowing ourselves to be mislead by a culture of greed and conformity and a poverty of understanding that wastes away our common ability to observe and make effective decisions.

People are choosing to see the world as they want it to be instead of as it is and so, as others have noted, our leaders become more extreme and ineffective while much of the country flounders. This is not what America is about. We are a young culture and in our short history, at times of crises, we have generally chosen the better path. Will we do that this time or persist in a self-destruction that comes under the guise of strength?
